2018 - Company Established

Founded to provide high-quality electrical services, we started our journey in Tasmania, committed to sustainable solutions.

December 2019 - SunSmart Energy Light Show

Tasmania's biggest music-synchronized Christmas lights and pyrotechnics spectacular powered entirely by renewable energy. What began as a local passion project has grown into a vibrant community tradition - bringing people together to celebrate the magic of the season, through dazzling lights display, perfectly timed with music and breath-taking special effects.More than just a show, it's a celebration of clean energy, innovation and community spirit lighting Tasmania's Christmas.

October 2020 - Spooktacular Lights

Tasmania's spine-tingling spectacle of Halloween powered by innovation and energy! Created and produced by Max Jago, the driving force behind SunSmart Energy and MaxFX, Spooktacular Lights brings together cutting-edge renewable energy technology and world-class special effects. What started as a passion project has grown into one of Tasmania's most anticipated Halloween experiences - a music-synchronized lights and pyrotechnics display that showcases Max's unique blend of technical innovation and creative showmanship.

We’re a dedicated group of professionals with diverse skills and experiences.

Max is a highly skilled and versatile business owner with over 15 years of industry experience and an abundance of qualifications across multiple sectors. As the owner of SunSmart Energy, MaxFX, and Tas Crackers, he brings a unique blend of technical expertise, creativity, and strategic leadership.

With a strong foundation in electrical and renewable energy, Max is passionate about helping clients transition to sustainable power solutions. Beyond energy, he leads MaxFX, Tasmania’s premier special effects and production company, and Tas Crackers, a locally owned fireworks business delivering professional displays and community events.

His multi-disciplinary background allows him to combine technical precision with innovative thinking, driving high-quality outcomes across every project he undertakes.

Colin brings over 40 years of electrical experience, beginning his career as an apprentice at Coats Patons. Throughout his extensive career, he has worked across a diverse range of domestic and commercial electrical projects. Over the past 12 years, he has specialised in renewable energy, applying his deep technical knowledge to support the transition to cleaner, more sustainable power solutions.

We have been working with Max for the past 5 years and he is ALWAYS a pleasure to have around. He works very fast, efficiently and his work his A1. Everything is done so neatly, professionally and he is very knowledgeable. We happy have Max return to do all our electrical work time and time again and will continue to do so.
